“On Wednesday at Farmfest, Amy Klobuchar stood before Minnesota farmers and promised she was heading back to Washington to work on the Farm Bill.
Today, she showed up—and voted to stop it.
The Farm Bill failed by one vote. Klobuchar’s vote could have advanced legislation containing year-round E15 and more than 100 bipartisan priorities for farmers, ranchers and rural communities. Instead, she joined every Democrat on the committee in voting no and left Minnesota farmers out to dry.
Now the Senate is heading into a five-week recess, the Farm Bill is stalled until at least September, and Minnesota farmers are left waiting while Klobuchar returns to campaigning for governor.
We have seen this before. When the Senate held a hearing on Minnesota’s massive fraud crisis, Klobuchar did not show up. When Minnesota farmers needed her vote, she showed up only to vote no.
Amy Klobuchar is always there for the photo op, the press conference and the campaign promise. But when Minnesota needs her to make the tough decision and deliver results, she disappears or stands in the way.
Minnesota farmers deserved action. Amy Klobuchar gave them another excuse.”
