ST. PAUL, MN – Another day, another fraud scandal under Tim Walz. Federal prosecutors just announced indictments against eight individuals accused of stealing $8.4 million from Minnesota’s Housing Stabilization Services program. Instead of helping seniors, people with disabilities, and those in recovery, these criminals bought luxury cars, funded overseas investments, and lined their own pockets.
This is not an isolated case. It is part of a pattern of systemic fraud that has flourished under Governor Walz’s leadership. From Feeding Our Future to Housing Stabilization Services, over $1 billion of taxpayer money has been stolen while Walz looked the other way. Not one commissioner fired. Not one bureaucrat held accountable.
Walz’s latest executive order creating yet another insider council is a sham. Agencies accused of fraud cannot investigate themselves. The fox cannot guard the hen house. Minnesotans deserve an independent Office of Inspector General with real subpoena power and authority to finally hold these agencies accountable.
Governor Walz has had two full terms to get this under control. Instead, fraud has exploded to historic levels. His failure has cost taxpayers dearly and robbed the most vulnerable Minnesotans of the services they need.
Walz can spin and distract, but the facts are undeniable: fraud has run rampant under his watch. Minnesota deserves a governor who will protect taxpayers, not enable criminals.
