Statement from Minnesota GOP Chairman Alex Plechash on “No Kings” Protest

Definition of a King: A ruler who governs by decree, unaccountable to the people, and whose power goes unchecked.

When I first heard there was a “No Kings” protest planned for tomorrow, I half expected it to be aimed at our own governor — the man who ruled by executive order for over two years. The same governor who closed churches, schools, and small businesses while keeping candy stores and liquor stores open; who imposed mask and vaccine mandates, let riots burn our cities, and spent recklessly while fraud ran rampant across his administration.

But no — this protest isn’t about Tim Walz. It’s about Donald Trump — the same man who just helped broker one of the most important peace agreements of our lifetime between Israel and Hamas, setting the stage for lasting peace in the Middle East.

And when you follow the money behind this so-called “No Kings” protest, it’s no surprise who’s really pulling the strings.

The same national progressive networks and dark-money groups that spent nearly a billion dollars to prop up Tim Walz’s disastrous vice-presidential bid are bankrolling this effort. They’re the same groups funding radical policies that:

  • Let boys compete against girls in sports,
  • Push political indoctrination over education — while less than 50% of Minnesota students can read or do math at grade level,
  • Hand out free college and free health care to illegal immigrants,
  • And crush working Minnesotans under higher taxes — even taxing Amazon deliveries.

Meanwhile, Minnesota continues to be robbed blind by fraudsters, Walz’s political appointees collect six-figure salaries, and taxpayers are now on the hook for millions to renovate his mansion.

“When you trace the dollar signs, you see the same financiers who tried to coronate Walz as Vice President are now trying to dethrone Trump,” said MNGOP Chairman Alex Plechash. “This isn’t a grassroots protest — it’s a prepackaged Washington playbook imported to insult Minnesota voters.”

“They say ‘No Kings,’ but they’re bankrolling a kingdom of radicals, bureaucrats, and unelected elites,” Plechash added. “If you want to protest royalty, start with the Governor’s Mansion — that’s one palace already being renovated at taxpayer expense.”

“Let’s be honest — if Minnesota has a King, it isn’t Donald Trump,” Plechash said. “It’s Tim Walz — and his crown is made of executive orders, dark money, and taxpayer dollars.”

The irony of this protest is hard to miss. The people behind it aren’t fighting for democracy; they’re defending a political dynasty of one-party rule, reckless spending, and government overreach.

So if tomorrow’s protestors really want to say “No Kings,” they can start right here in St. Paul.

Onward to victory,

Alex Plechash
