STATEMENT FROM ALEX PLECHASH, CHAIRMAN OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF MINNESOTA
“Homecoming is a rite of passage. A Minnesota tradition. A night for students, families and alumni to gather, cheer and make memories. Last night in Eden Prairie, that tradition was shattered by gang warfare.
“Two people were shot outside the stadium during the homecoming game against Minnetonka. The game was evacuated. A community celebration became an emergency. We are grateful to the officers and first responders who moved quickly to protect everyone there.
“From gunfire outside an Edina church to a shooting outside an Eden Prairie homecoming game, Minnesotans have every reason to demand action. Everyone should be safe—and feel safe—at a football game, at church and in their neighborhood.
“Enough of the managed decline under Tim Walz and Amy Klobuchar. Minnesota needs a change in direction and a change in leadership. We need leaders who back our police, confront gang violence and demand consequences for violent criminals.
“We need our Minnesota back. That starts with electing Lisa Demuth as governor and Ron Schutz as attorney general.”
