STATEMENT FROM MNGOP CHAIRMAN ALEX PLECHASH

“Congratulations to Lisa Demuth and Ryan Wilson on winning tonight’s Republican primary for Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

“Republicans fought hard in this primary because the future of Minnesota matters. Tonight that competition ends. We are united behind Lisa and Ryan, and we are thrilled to help make Lisa Demuth the next Governor of Minnesota.

“Lisa has the character, toughness and leadership this moment demands. She hasn’t governed by press release or watched Minnesota’s problems from Washington — she has been in the arena, taking on the DFL at the Capitol, fighting for taxpayers and demanding accountability.

“Amy Klobuchar has spent nearly two decades perfecting Washington-speak: press releases, talking points and hearings. Minnesota needs more than words. We need a governor willing to fight. While billions in fraud consumed our state and taxpayers demanded answers, Minnesotans needed leadership and accountability — not another statement from Washington.

“The contrast in November will be clear. Amy Klobuchar represents the same DFL establishment that gave Minnesota unchecked fraud, higher taxes and costs, declining educational outcomes and policies that put ideology ahead of common sense. Lisa Demuth and Ryan Wilson offer a different direction: stop the fraud, cut taxes, lower the cost of living, protect girls’ sports, restore public safety and bring accountability back to state government.

“Lisa also gives Republicans the strong top of the ticket we need to win everywhere. Her leadership will help elect Republicans statewide, send Republicans to Congress and deliver Republican majorities in the Minnesota House and Senate.

“Tonight was only step one. Now we come together, take the fight directly to Amy Klobuchar and the DFL, and win up and down the ballot in November.

“Lisa Demuth is ready to lead. Republicans are ready to fight. And Minnesota is ready for change.”
