Statement from Chair of the MNGOP on St Paul Church Disruption

  • Post category:Statement

Democratic protesters crossed a sacred line.

The disruption of a church service—especially the fear visible on the faces of children—should shock the conscience of every Minnesotan.

No political cause justifies intimidating families gathered peacefully to worship.

Instead of condemning it, Democratic leaders excused it.

Attorney General Keith Ellison misrepresented the law, while State Rep. Leigh Finke went further—publicly condoning and encouraging continued disruptions of churches as political “resistance.”

The FACE Act exists to protect people from intimidation and obstruction while exercising their faith. It protects peaceful parishioners—not violent or disruptive protesters.

Silence now matters.

Leaders of the Democratic Party—including Amy Klobuchar, the de facto DFL candidate for governor—must say where they stand. Silence is acceptance. Silence is approval of future acts.

This must be quickly, loudly, and unequivocally condemned.

Churches are not protest zones. Worship is not political theater.

Religious freedom is not negotiable.
