MNGOP Statement on Liberal-led Lawsuits

“Liberals in Minnesota and around the country know they are going to have a tough time on Election Day 2020, so they are attempting to manipulate our elections through lawsuits instead of legislation.

“From ballot harvesting, extending deadlines to allow more time for Democrats to ‘find’ ballots, and wasting taxpayer dollars sending ballots to all voters, it is imperative that we act now to prevent election interference and intimidation.

“Yesterday, a judge rejected the consent decree between the League of Women Voters and Secretary of State Steve Simon. In his ruling, the judge stated that the proposed decree agreed upon by Simon seeks to impose relief well beyond what is necessary to remedy the harms the plaintiffs propose to suffer.

“The decision yesterday is a small step in the right direction, but there is so much more to be done. Another important lawsuit we are now involved in is the NAACP/ACLU’s attempt to use fearmongering as a reason to send ballots to ALL voters, including inactive voters, for the general election. It is crucial we uphold the election laws which were enacted to prevent voter fraud and ballot tampering, and we are grateful Presidential Trump and our national stakeholders are with us on these battles.”

MNGOP Statement on Fairness Hearing Continuance

“This morning, the Republican Party of Minnesota, RNC and Trump Campaign requested a continuance for the fairness hearing scheduled today in strong objection to the proposed consent decree. We are pleased that this continuance was granted, allowing us to intervene in this case where the League of Women Voters and Secretary of State Steve Simon are attempting to change election laws through litigation rather than legislation.

“Minnesota Democrats have made it clear that their negotiations at the State Capitol are not being done in good faith, with Simon circumventing the legislative process to manipulate Minnesota election laws. It is beyond concerning to see what lengths the Democrats are willing to go to in order to win in November.

“Today, we made it clear that the Republican Party of Minnesota, RNC and Trump campaign will not stand for the Democrats’ tactics. We must move full speed ahead to prevent the liberal’s attempts to fundamentally alter our elections through the courts rather than on the campaign trail.”

MNGOP Statement on Democrat Abuse of Power

“This week, Secretary of State Steve Simon took a page out of Governor Walz’s playbook by subverting the legislative process to manipulate Minnesota election law to benefit the Democrats. In one case, the judge ordered a fairness hearing to determine third parties are not unreasonably impacted; and in the other, the judge signed off on this misuse of power by Secretary Simon and the Democrats.

“There is a reason a witness signature is required when voting by absentee ballot – to prevent fraud. It is unconscionable that Secretary Simon and Governor Walz have chosen to go around the legislature – which is currently in session – to change a law that will remove these necessary safeguards, opening up our elections to rampant fraud in our upcoming election.

“Our Founding Fathers put in protections to ensure the executive branch does not abuse power and go around the legislative process. It is disappointing (but not surprising) that Walz, Simon, and Minnesota Democrats are willing to use their power to give their party the upper hand in elections.”

MNGOP Statement on Democrat Power Grab

“For nearly 3 months, under emergency powers, Governor Walz has been able to rule by the stroke of a pen and avoid the legislative process that this country was built on. Today, the Democrat-led House voted against restoring the proper process of governing, allowing Walz unilateral power for another 30 days.

“These sorts of measures are not meant to be long-term ways of operating, and it is disappointing that Minnesota Democrats are abusing the power granted under peacetime emergency order. Once again, our opponents have shown that they will stop at nothing to absorb and grab as much power as they can, even if it is at the expense of the rights of Minnesota families and the futures of Minnesota businesses.”

MNGOP Statement on Trump’s Speech

“Today, President Donald Trump showed America and the world what true leadership during a crisis looks like. We are a nation of laws, and we can both seek justice for George Floyd and stand up to the rioters who are burning our cities, demolishing businesses, and impacting the daily lives of Minnesota families. As Trump said ‘I am your President of law and order and an ally of the peaceful protestors.’

“It is time for the violent riots and crimes to stop, and we are grateful for President Trump and the National Guard for acting when our local leaders would not.”

U.S. Senate Endorsement

“Today, our dedicated Minnesota Republican activists overwhelmingly voted to endorse former Congressman Jason Lewis as our next U.S. Senator from the great state of Minnesota.

“Lewis has spent his career on the radio talking about the important issues, and now he is committed to acting on them. During his time in Congress, Lewis was a strong leader on health care reform, tax reform, and juvenile justice reform.

“Lewis is the best person we have to defeat Tina Flint Smith and represent our midwest, Republican values in Washington. Join us in supporting Jason Lewis as we work to show Smith and her radical, far-left policies the door in November.

MN GOP Chairwoman Calls for Walz/Frey Resignation

“For four straight nights we have helplessly watched our neighborhood businesses be looted and destroyed, we’ve watched  as violent protesters have rioted in our streets and forced public transport and major thoroughfares to shut down, and we have watched our city burn to the ground.

Governor Walz and Mayor Frey have been largely silent, other than a handful of unhelpful tweets and press conferences blaming everyone, but themselves.  Minneapolis is decimated.  Minneapolis is damaged to a level we never could have imagined.  The destruction caused this past week will unfortunately live in our memories forever. It’s a dark stain on our state.

“These gentleman have demonstrated they are not equipped to run Minneapolis or Minnesota.  Their inaction has led to riots across our country.  Our state can not move forward or start to heal with either in office.  We call for the resignation of both, so no additional harm and damage comes to our people and state.”

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman, Jennifer Carnahan, released the following statement calling for Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to resign:

MNGOP Statement Regarding Halt of State Convention

“Today, we were forced to halt our scheduled MN GOP convention due to potentially malicious interference with the servers used for our voting technology.

“While our voting system remains secure, and the integrity of the system and process remains intact and has not been compromised, our vendor witnessed an unprecedented spike in volume they can not attribute to normal use of any kind. This is the same voting technology we have used for at least a dozen other conventions with no issues.

“The Republican Party of Minnesota will be working with our voting vendor and law enforcement to investigate and determine the source of this disruption.

“It is a priority for this party, for our dedicated activists, and for our candidates that we resolve the issues at hand and ensure we uphold the values and integrity of this party and our process.

“We look forward to getting the convention rescheduled, addressing the business in front of us to elect National Delegates and Alternates, Presidential Electors, and endorsing our U.S. Senate Candidate in the near future.”

MNGOP Statement on Endorsement in CD 2

“Today, Minnesota Republicans resoundingly endorsed Tyler Kistner on the first ballot in the Second Congressional District. Kistner’s experience serving in the Marines, and overall candidacy highlights the importance of the voices of a younger generation and will be a welcomed addition to Congress. Kistner’s decisive win proves he is a force to be reckoned with on the campaign trail and is going to be just the person to defeat Angie Craig in November.”
