This morning at 10:00 AM Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan participated in a Zoom interview with KSTP’s Tom Hauser and MN DFL Chair Ken Martin previewing the election on November 3rd for an upcoming “At Issue” segment.
Upon the conclusion of that interview hundreds of calls, texts and voice messages flooded the Chairwoman’s personal cell phone, interfering with her ability to do her job. We find it somewhat convenient that immediately after concluding an interview with MN DFL Chair Martin that the Chairwoman’s phone would be spammed.
“I have no doubt in my mind this spamming comes directly from the Democrats. It’s clear the Democrats are desperate and worried about the election outcome in just four days,” said Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan. “Why they would feel the need to harass me, violate my privacy and impede my job, on the day the President is visiting our state is low-class and underhanded. This is exactly the type of uncivil and disruptive behavior that we should have no room for in Minnesota politics. Chair Martin always says ‘we can disagree without being disagreeable.’ This feels like anything but that. I sincerely hope that Chair Martin had nothing to do with this; but I’m doubtful given how he’s taken sport of attacking me this election cycle when I’m not even on the ballot. I was bullied enough growing up and am not interested in being bullied as a 43-year-old for doing my job and supporting our President and Republican candidates.”
The Republican Party of Minnesota has run a data search on several of the numbers and revealed that many of these callers are coded as “Hard Democrats” in the data system. Further, in talking directly with a few of the ‘return callers,’ these individuals confirmed to our staff they are Democrats.
We hope the Democrats would hold themselves to a higher standard, as spamming the Chairwoman on an important day is not acceptable. If and when the Republican Party of Minnesota is able to discern the source of these spam calls, the organization will take action by any and all legal means available.
