MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman, Jennifer Carnahan, a resident of St. Louis Park, released the following statement after attending tonight’s St. Louis Park City Council Meeting:

“Tonight the St. Louis Park City Councilmembers decided to ‘kick the can down the road’  by opting to hold study sessions to determine if reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at future meetings should be brought back up for a vote at a later date; versus correcting their egregious vote taken at a previous meeting.

Instead of listening to the residents they represent, the councilmembers chose to remain tone deaf. On top of that they took a path of superiority, elitist arrogance and condescension towards the overflow room in attendance.  The entire meeting was a disappointment, but not a surprise.  When Democrats get elected to office ‘of the people, by the people and for the people’ goes out the door.

What we saw Monday night in St. Louis Park is a small microcosm of the Socialist Democrat movement taking place all over this state and country.  As important as delivering Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes to President Trump is in 2020; is also ensuring we replace this group of out-of-touch councilmembers in St. Louis Park when they are up for re-election.”
